The Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), Sir Dr. Jerry Agbaike, JP, has been conferred with the prestigious NIPSS Integrity Ambassador certification by the National Institute of Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru, Jos, in recognition of his outstanding leadership, integrity and exemplary public service.
The honour followed a rigorous screening and selection process involving top-level leaders and managers who have distinguished themselves through ethical leadership, professional excellence and a sustained legacy of integrity in both words and actions.
Sir Dr. Agbaike, a Fellow of several notable professional bodies, holds a Doctoral Degree in Political Science and has participated in leadership and management programmes at renowned institutions, including Manchester Business School, Harvard Business School, Victoria University in Melbourne, Australia, and the State University at Buffalo, New York.
He served in the Delta State Public Service for 34 years, rising to the position of Permanent Secretary before retiring meritoriously after an 11-year tenure in the office. He was subsequently appointed Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
In addition to leading DSIEC, Agbaike serves as the National Vice-Chairman of the Forum of Chairmen of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria (FOSIECON), where he has continued to contribute to the advancement of electoral administration across the country.
Under his leadership, the commission successfully conducted the 2024 Delta State Local Government Elections, which were widely adjudged to be credible, transparent, free, fair, inclusive and peaceful.
The recognition further underscores Agbaike’s reputation as an impartial electoral umpire whose commitment to transparency, inclusiveness and voter education has strengthened public confidence in the electoral process and promoted the growth of grassroots democratic institutions.
The NIPSS Integrity Ambassador certification is regarded as a mark of honour reserved for individuals who have demonstrated exceptional ethical standards, accountability and enduring contributions to leadership and national development.
