Earlier today in Government House, Asaba, I had the honour of being received in audience by the Governor of Delta State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori. The meeting was more than a courtesy call. It was a deliberate step to strengthen the existing cordial relationship between the Niger Delta Development Commission and the Delta State Government, and to reaffirm our shared commitment to the development, peace, and wellbeing of every community across Delta.
His Excellency received me with warmth and openness that reflected the true spirit of partnership. Our discussion was frank, focused, and forward-looking. We reviewed ongoing interventions, identified priority areas where NDDC and the State Government can align resources for greater impact, and reaffirmed a mutual resolve to work in synergy for the sustainable transformation of Delta State. That synergy is the bridge between policy and results, between plans on paper and projects on the ground.
We are united by one objective: to ensure that development reaches the riverine settlements as surely as it reaches the upland towns, that roads connect farms to markets, that primary health centers are equipped and staffed, that schools are safe and functional, that youths have skills and MSME support, and that shoreline and erosion control protect homes and livelihoods. When the Governing Board provides purposeful leadership, informed choices, and effective representation, and when the State Government brings local insight, coordination, and ownership, the people of Delta feel the difference in real time.
I deeply appreciate the Governor’s hospitality, his clear vision for Delta, and his commitment to collaboration without delay. That spirit of cooperation makes it easier for the NDDC to deliver Mr. President’s Renewed Hope Agenda in Delta, because when we pull in one direction, contractors move to site, supervisors answer questions, communities become co-owners of projects, and citizens begin to believe again.
I look forward to continued collaboration in the months and years ahead, with regular engagement, joint monitoring, and shared accountability. Together, we shall remain firm when challenges arise, fair in our decisions, and focused on delivery. Because when the NDDC and Delta State Government work as one team with one mission, every family in Delta thrives, no community is left behind, and our beloved State moves steadily toward a future of peace, prosperity,
and dignity for all.
