Oborevwori Inaugurates Ozoro Ultra-Modern Market; Restates Govt’s Commitment To Delta Economic Growth

​Delta State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, Thursday said his administration is irrevocably committed to providing facilities that support economic activities.

​The Governor spoke while commissioning an ultra-modern market in Ozoro, Isoko North Local Government Area of Delta State.

The Governor who represented by his Deputy, Sir Monday Onyeme, said; “My administration had unwavering commitment to providing infrastructure that supports trade,
investment and economic prosperity.

‘It is my firm belief that this facility will not only boost economic activities but also create jobs, stimulate innovation, improve internally generated revenue and enhance the overall well-being of our citizens.

“I urge the traders, buyers and entrepreneurs who will utilize this facility to take full advantage of the opportunities it presents.

“I also encourage all stakeholders to ensure the proper maintenance of this market so that it remains functional, attractive and beneficial to present and future generations.

“Let us collectively safeguard this investment and use it to promote legitimate business, peaceful coexistence and shared prosperity.

“This market symbolizes the vibrant spirit of entrepreneurship, enterprise and community that has long defined the people of Ozoro and the wider Isoko Nation.

“The Isoko people have, over the years, distinguished themselves in commerce, agriculture and public service, among others, contributing immensely to the economic growth and development of Delta State.

“It is therefore fitting that this modern market is being commissioned here in Ozoro, a town that has long been a centre of commerce and economic activity within the Isoko Nation.

“This facility will provide a conducive environment for trade and enterprise to flourish, enabling traders, artisans and business owners to expand their businesses, create wealth and contribute even more meaningfully to the prosperity of this community, its environs and our State.

​”The facilities in the market include 28 lock-up shops, 192 open shops, 8 packing stores (upstairs), 1 warehouse, 1 cold room, 4 administrative offices, 1 market hall, 2 security posts, male and female toilet facilities, central water scheme, and external interlocking and horticulture.

“This market was initiated by the Delta State Government to put smiles on the faces of the people and provide a facility that will serve not only the local community but also traders and customers from neighbouring towns and communities.

“It stands as a testament to our commitment to continuity in governance and our determination to ensure that projects initiated for the benefit of the people are brought to completion.

“The market project has been championed by this administration in recognition of its immense potential to foster economic growth.

“Beyond providing a modern and organized trading environment, this facility will stimulate commercial activities, support small and medium-scale enterprises, enhance livelihoods and create opportunities for employment and wealth creation.

‘Indeed, with this modern facility, we are laying a stronger foundation for sustainable economic activities and positioning Ozoro as an even more vibrant commercial hub.

The member representing Isoko Constituency in the House of Representative, Hon. Johnathan Ukodhiko, Comrade Ovuozorie Macauley, Mrs Charity Awoh, President, Market Women, Ozoro Kingdom, appreciated the state government for constructing the market.

They appealed to the people to protect the market against vandalism and take care of the market for their own benefit.

President-General, Ozoro Kingdom, Chief Berkley Eloviano, said the project is a landmark testimony of state government’s commitment to economic development and improve the livelihood and growth of the community.

The Commissioner, Trade and Investments, Hon. Samuel Oligida in his address, said the Ozoro Ultra Modern market is important for the people of Ozoro and neighboring communities as it will provide an improve platform for commercial activities for traders, entrepreneurs and contribute to the general prosperity of the people.

Also, Engr. Omoyibo Daniel, a businessman, at the occasion, supported 250 market women with N200, 000 each.

Earlier, in an address, the Chairman, Isoko North Local Government Council, Elder Godwin Ogorugba, noted that the Ultra Modern market shows a clear demonstration of continuity in governance.

He said the market will provide a conducive environment for trading, create employment opportunities, stimulate economic activities, enhance internally generated revenue and improve the livelihood of the people.
