Tinubu, Oborevwori Reforms: Unique Ladies Mobilise Women For APC

The Unique Ladies for Sheriff Oborevwori have mobilised women across Delta North Senatorial District to deepen support for the policies and reforms of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

The group also charged its members to remain steadfast and patient in politics, saying consistency and commitment were critical to sustaining political relevance.

The call was made yesterday at the Unique Ladies for Sheriff Empowerment Programme held at Elumelu Hall, Oshimili South Local Government Area, Asaba.

The programme, which attracted women from the nine local government areas of Delta North, featured the empowerment of 54 women, with six beneficiaries drawn from each council area.

Speaking at the event, National President of the group, Chief Nkem Okwuofu, urged members to remain committed to their political aspirations, stressing that political relevance was built through patience, endurance and consistency.

She said many people who participated in previous political campaigns had abandoned their political engagements because they were unable to withstand setbacks or wait for opportunities.

“Those who are not steadfast soon fall by the wayside. If you look around you, those we started with, even those we did the last campaigns with, you will find that so many of them have dropped out along the way because they are not steadfast,” Okwuofu said.

She urged members to support the Tinubu and Oborevwori administrations by communicating their policies and achievements to the grassroots.

Okwuofu said her commitment to mentoring women was driven by the desire to raise a new generation of female leaders capable of surpassing the achievements of their mentors.

“I am a mirror to all of you. That is why I mentor you and take extra pain in mentoring you. My prayer is that all of you whom I mentor will become better than I am,” she said.

The National President also urged the women to remain united and focused, stressing that immediate political rewards should not be the sole motivation for participation.

She said those who remained consistent and quietly contributed to political development would eventually be recognised.

The guest speaker and Delta State Coordinator of the Renewed Hope Ambassadors, Rt. Hon. Funkekeme Solomon, spoke on the theme, “Tinubu and the Governor’s Reforms.”

Solomon explained the objectives of the Renewed Hope agenda of the Federal Government and urged the women to understand government policies and communicate them effectively to the people.

He also called for greater participation of women in governance and community development, describing them as custodians of culture, tradition and values.

According to him, women have a critical role to play in communicating government policies and mobilising grassroots support for development initiatives.

The Chairman of the occasion, Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, was represented by the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Dr. Darlington Ijeh, who commended the organisers for putting together the programme to empower women and strengthen their participation in political and community development.

Ijeh urged the beneficiaries and other participants to make productive use of the opportunities provided, stressing the importance of unity, resilience and active participation in initiatives aimed at improving the welfare of women and their communities.

In her remarks, the Delta North Coordinator of Unique Ladies for Sheriff and former Commissioner for Lands and Surveys, Hon. Kate Onianwa, commended members of the group for their commitment and resilience.

Onianwa, who coordinated the programme, said the initiative was designed to empower women economically, celebrate their contributions and strengthen their participation in community development.

The 54 beneficiaries, representing the nine local government areas of Delta North, received cash empowerment to support their livelihoods and improve their standard of living.

The organisers said the initiative formed part of their efforts to promote women’s empowerment and strengthen grassroots mobilisation across Delta North.

The ceremony was attended by the State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Community Development Hon. Pat Ajudua, Deputy National Coordinator of the group Chief Mrs Roseline Amioku, among others.
