PDP NEC Appoints Interim Nat. Working Committee; Approves Fees For Nomination Forms

Press Statement.

PDP NEC APPOINTS INTERIM NATIONAL WORKING COMMITTEE.

The 103rd National Executive Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party at its 103rd meeting held in Abuja among other decisions, appointed 13-man Interim National
Working Committee to pilot the affairs of the party and to present candidates for the 2027
elections.

This appointment, which was as recommended by the Board of Trustees, was necessitated by the Supreme Court judgment which dismissed the appeals and cross appeals last week, effectively making our party without leadership. Conscious of the need to ensure that no vacuum is created at the leadership of our party, at a critical time like this, the critical organs of the party (BoT and NEC) unanimously took a decision to appoint an Interim National Working Committee for the party.

The Interim National Working Committee as constituted are:

  1. Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN -Chairman
  2. Alh. Hamza Akuyam Koshe
  3. Dr. Daniel Woyenikuro
  4. Richard Ihediwa
  5. Isa Abubakar
  6. Okechekwu Obiechina Daniel
  7. Hon. Theophilus Dakas Shan
  8. Comrade Ini Ememobong
  9. Hon. Aribisala Adewale Idowu
  10. Barr. Bara’u Shafi
  11. Mrs. Anthonia Chinenyenwa
  12. Umar Dan Aji
  13. H.E. Amb. Taofeek Arapaja -Secretary.

They were subsequently inaugurated and charged to start work immediately.

Thereafter, the NEC considered and approved the timetable for pre-election activities of and guidelines for the party. The following activities are scheduled as follows:

Sales of Expression of Interest and nomination forms May 5 – May 13, 2026.

Last Date for submission of already completed forms May 14, 2026.

Screening of aspirants May 15-18, 2026.

Screening Appeals May 21, 2026.

Publication of all cleared aspirants May 22, 2026.

Ward Primaries for all offices May 27, 2026.

Appeals on All Primaries May 28, 2026.

NEC Meeting to approve all nominated candidates May 29, 2026.

Special Convention (candidates’ ratification) May 30, 2026.

The cost are as follows:

Expression of Interest
– N500,000
Nomination form – N1,500,000

HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES
Expression of Interest
– N2,000,000 Nomination form – N5,000,000

SENATE
Expression of Interest – N3,000,000
Nomination form – N7,000,000

GOVERNORSHIP
Expression of Interest – N5,000,000
Nomination form – N35,000,000

PRESIDENTIAL
Expression of Interest – N10,000,000
Nomination form – N90,000,000

Women are exempted from paying for nomination forms, they will pay only
the Expression of Interest, while youths and people living with disability are to pay 50% of nomination form for the offices of their choice.
