Re-elected Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has pledged to expand development and widen the reach of good governance across the state as he begins a second term in office.
In his post-election victory speech on Sunday August 16, 2026, following his re-election as governor of Osun State for a second term, Adeleke, who dedicated his victory to the people of Osun State, extended an olive branch to his opponents, declaring that “there is no victor and no vanquished” and calling on all stakeholders to work together for the progress of Osun State.
The governor said his administration would continue its development drive under his renewed five-point agenda, as he begins another term in office, adding that his vision is to transform Osun from a predominantly civil-service state into an industrial state and investment destination, while building on the gains of his first administration.
According to him, his second-term priorities will be centered on his renewed five-point agenda, which encompasses youth, women, and workers’ welfare; infrastructure; agro-industrial expansion; health and education; and a stronger business environment for job creation.
The governor expressed gratitude to the people of Osun for renewing his mandate and called for peace and unity following the tensions surrounding the election.
Governor Ademola Adeleke, also used opportunity to once again throw his weight behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s bid for a second term in office in the 2027 presidential election.
The governor appreciated President Tinubu for what he described as his support for a free and fair election in Osun, calling the President “a son of Osun State.”
Adeleke said: “At this point, I must deeply appreciate Mr. President, His Excellency Senator Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for his strong support for a free and fair election.
“Mr President is a son of Osun State and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for second term in the 2027 presidential election.”
The governor had earlier revealed that Tinubu personally called to congratulate him on his victory even before INEC formally announced the final result.
Adeleke won Saturday’s election with 511,067 votes, defeating APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. ADC candidate Najeem Salaam came third with 17,180 votes.
A one-minute silence was observed, before reading his victory speech, in honour of those who lost their lives during the election period.
