DELTA STATE AT 35: REFLECTING ON THE JOURNEY, LOOKING TO THE FUTURE – Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei

As Delta State marks 35 years since its creation, I join Deltans at home and across the world in celebrating this important milestone with gratitude and hope.

The story of our State is a story of resilience, enterprise, diversity, and the enduring strength of our people.

I salute the founding generation and all past leaders, legislators, public servants, traditional rulers, community leaders, and citizens whose contributions have shaped the Delta we know today.

As a former Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, I have always believed that the strength of a State rests not only in its resources, but in the quality of its people, the strength of its institutions, and the responsibility of its leadership.

At 35, we must preserve our achievements, learn from our shortcomings and continue to seek better ways of transforming our human and natural resources into opportunities, prosperity and a better quality of life for our people.

This anniversary should therefore be a moment of reflecting on our commitment to the future. We owe the next generation a Delta State that is more peaceful, united, prosperous and inclusive. I remain confident that with responsible leadership, strong institutions and the collective determination of our people, the best chapters of the Delta story are still ahead.

Happy 35th Anniversary to all Deltans and may God continue to bless Delta State and prosper her people.

Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor O. Ochei, Esq., FNSE
