A club dedicated to mobilising Delta State indigenes and others to invest in the State has been launched in Asaba.
Launching the Club at the weekend, its President, Mr. Omas Robinson, a Deltan resident in the United Kingdom, said the major objective of the Club is to further empower Deltans at home and in the Diaspora financially, through investing in already identified potential profitable opportunities in Delta State and across the world.
In a statement signed by Mr. Pius Mordi, director of publicity of the Club, Mr. Robinson said “the Governor of Delta State, Rt. Hon. (Elder) Sheriff Oborevwori, has demonstrated his passion for developing the State by organizing a well attended Delta State Investment and Economic Summit, instituted a $100milion de-risk fund for investors and also personally attended all the sessions of the Summit with his Executive Council, chairmen of local government areas and other political appointees as well as other citizens across the State.
“It is therefore time for Deltans to take advantage of these investment opportunities as a team to put resources together through this Club in order to harness the available opportunities in Agriculture, Oil and Gas, Blue Economy, Solid minerals and other sectors in Delta State”.
Revealing the benefits of the Club to Deltans, Robinson said that 1,500 Deltans have been earmarked to be integrated as shareholders in the Club’s first phase of investments free of charge. As soon as the first tranche of Deltans are fully empowered, another 1,500 will be admitted as new shareholders.
However, private investors from other parts of Nigeria, the Diaspora and across the world can also participate in the Club by either deploying capital to partner with the Club to invest or partner with their expertise and professional competence to achieve the goals of the Club.
The Club is partnering with banks, insurance companies and different companies with requisite expertise and will also hold an Annual General Meeting every year to ensure that investments of investors are safe and are transparently managed.
