The Delta State Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, has lauded the quality and completion of the Ozoro Modern Market in Isoko North Local Government Area, describing it as a significant milestone in the state government’s drive to boost grassroots commerce.
Speaking during an inspection of the facility on Tuesday, Aniagwu expressed satisfaction with the standard of work executed by the contractor, noting that the project reflects the government’s commitment to improving economic opportunities for the people.
He also commended the Ministry of Trade and Investment for its effective supervision of the project, adding that the market stands as a testament to the administration’s focus on impactful, people-oriented development.
Aniagwu extended appreciation to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for ensuring the successful delivery of the project, stressing that the market would serve not only residents of Ozoro but the entire Isoko Nation.
According to him, the modern market is fully equipped with over 190 open stalls, several lock-up shops, storage facilities, administrative offices, and a multipurpose hall.
He added that the complex also has ample parking space, reliable water supply, sanitation facilities, and fire safety installations.
“This market meets all the requirements of a modern trading environment. It is designed to ensure convenience, safety, and improved business operations for traders and customers,” Aniagwu stated.
He disclosed that the facility is ready for commissioning and will soon be inaugurated by the governor.
On the issue of shop allocation, Aniagwu assured that the state government would adopt a transparent and equitable process aimed at benefiting genuine traders.

He emphasized that the government would guard against the takeover of the market by wealthy individuals seeking to exploit smaller traders, noting that priority would be given to those actively engaged in trading activities.
“This is not a project for a privileged few. The governor is determined to ensure that real market men and women are the primary beneficiaries,” he said.
Aniagwu further noted that the Ministry of Trade and Investment, in collaboration with local government and market leaders, would oversee the allocation process to ensure fairness and prevent abuse.
In a related development, the commissioner also inspected ongoing and completed road projects in Oleh, Isoko South Local Government Area, where he commended contractors for the quality of work delivered.
He highlighted the significant elevation of road levels, the thickness of asphalt layers, and the smooth drainage systems as clear indicators of adherence to high construction standards.
Aniagwu revealed that several road projects across Isoko land are at various stages of completion, including internal roads around the College of Health Technology, Ovrode.
He added that the state government has also reviewed and is advancing plans for the construction of the Isoko Ring Road, a major project expected to span several kilometres and enhance connectivity within the area.
Other completed and ongoing projects, he said, include roads in Emevor, Olomoro, and Ozoro, as well as a newly awarded Ogorugba Street project, which will be fast-tracked for delivery.
Reaffirming the administration’s commitment, Aniagwu stated that Governor Oborevwori remains focused on delivering infrastructure that directly improves the lives of the people.
“The governor believes that governance is about touching lives. Because resources have been prudently managed, he is able to respond to the needs of the people and will continue to do so,” Aniagwu said.
He also appreciated contractors for their dedication to quality delivery and encouraged greater participation of indigenous firms in the execution of government projects across the state.
