Residents of Akwukwu-Igbo, headquarters of Oshimili North Local Government Area, have expressed appreciation to the Wife of the Delta State Governor, Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori, for the donation of teaching and learning materials to Agbogidi Primary School in the community.

The donation, carried out through her You Matter Charity Foundation in collaboration with the Delta State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), was formally presented to pupils at the school on Thursday.

Speaking during the presentation, the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Margaret Osakwe, commended the First Lady, Dame Tobore Oborevwori, and the SUBEB Chairman, Hon. Samuel Mariere, for their commitment to supporting education, especially for less privileged children.

She noted that the materials would enhance learning, adding that many pupils who could not afford basic educational items have now benefited from the gesture.

She, however, appealed to the state government to deploy more teachers to the school, renovate dilapidated structures, and provide additional learning materials.

A good governance advocate and indigene of the community, Mr. Godfrey Chukwudifu Osakwe, also lauded the donor while encouraging pupils to take their studies seriously and exhibit good character, stressing that education remains key to achieving future aspirations.

Also speaking, Pastor Afagwu Philip of the Anglican Church of Advent, Odozienu, described the intervention as a welcome development, noting that it reflects the government’s commitment to grassroots development and investment in children’s future.

Similarly, Prince Charles Obi, an indigene of Akwukwu-Igbo, expressed gratitude for the gesture, describing it as a long-awaited recognition of the community.

The event featured praise and worship sessions in appreciation of the governor’s family.
