Residents of Owanta Okwue and the neighboring Aledia community in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State have been plunged into celebration following the delivery and installation of a high-capacity 500kVA electricity transformer, courtesy of the Chairman of the Governing Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Chiedu Ebie.
This was made known on Monday, September 28, 2026, in Agbor, Delta State by Hon. J.C. Aleh, Special Assistant to the NDDC Board Chairman on Political, Community Development, and Project Monitoring, while speaking with Journalists and Stakeholders.
Delivering the announcement, Hon. Aleh highlighted that the strategic donation forms part of an ongoing, multi-phase effort by the NDDC under Mr. Ebie’s leadership to address rural electrification challenges, resolve long-standing power deficits, and jumpstart micro-economic activities across grassroots communities in Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region.
Hon. Aleh showered lavish encomiums on Mr. Chiedu Ebie, praising his visionary leadership, unalloyed dedication to human capital and community development, and deep-seated commitment to delivering tangible infrastructure to the grassroots.
He described the NDDC Chairman as a compassionate administrator and an illustrious son of Ika land whose strategic vision continues to bridge critical developmental gaps.
According to him, “This 500KVA transformer is not just an equipment installation; it is a vital lifeline restored to Owanta Okwue and Aledia,” Hon. Aleh declared. “Mr. Chiedu Ebie has consistently demonstrated that the NDDC under his stewardship is deeply tuned to the real, immediate needs of our people. His relentless drive to bring light, infrastructure, and progress to neglected communities is worthy of the highest commendation.”
Aleh also extended profound appreciation to the entire Governing Board and Management of the NDDC for prioritizing rural electrification and socio-economic infrastructure across the Niger Delta. He noted that the commission’s interventionist mandate is being actively realized through direct, impactful interventions that touch everyday lives.
He further stated that this latest delivery forms part of a broader, phased rollout of electrical infrastructure spearheaded by the NDDC Board Chairman across various federal constituencies in Delta State. In recent months, similar installations and batches of heavy-duty transformers have been deployed to several communities across Ika North East, Ika South, Aniocha South, Oshimili South, and other rural axes.

Receiving the news, community leaders, youth representatives, and business operators in Owanta Okwue and Aledia expressed immense gratitude to the NDDC and Mr. Chiedu Ebie.
