NDC RIVERS CAUCUS TAKES DISCIPLINARY ACTION, INTENSIFIES PREPARATIONS FOR 2027
~State Youth Leader Suspended Indefinitely as Party Strengthens Internal Discipline and Campaign Coordination.
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Rivers State Chapter, held its second expanded congress Meeting on September 19, 2026, with the party’s leadership, caucus members and all candidates deliberating on critical matters relating to party discipline, internal coordination and preparations for the 2027 general elections.
A major issue considered at the meeting was the conduct of the State Youth Leader in connection with his attendance at the flag-off of an opposition party on September 13th, 2026 in Okrika and his involvement in enforcing the participation of the candidate despite the directive of the party.
Following due deliberation on the matter, the State Chairman, Hon. Success Jack, moved a motion for an indefinite suspension of the State Youth Leader, effective immediately September 19, 2026.
The motion was duly seconded by Hon. Tonye S. Saturday, NDC candidate for Degema State Constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly.
The party reiterates that discipline, loyalty and respect for the decisions of its constituted organs remain fundamental to the success of the NDC and its collective pursuit of political change in Rivers State.
DISCIPLINARY AND RESOLUTION CAUCUS ESTABLISHED
In furtherance of its commitment to internal discipline and peaceful resolution of disputes, the State Working Committee resolved to establish a Disciplinary and Resolution Caucus.
The Caucus will provide an established channel for addressing internal disputes, disciplinary matters and other issues that may arise within the party, in accordance with the party’s structures and procedures.
The meeting also resolved that all candidates of the party are to submit their manifestos and campaign calendars to facilitate proper coordination, planning and harmonisation of campaign activities ahead of the 2027 general elections.
A motion for the adoption of the resolutions reached at the meeting was moved by Elder Iyke Orgi and subsequently adopted by members of the Caucus, including the party’s Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates.
DUMO LULU-BRIGGS CHARGES MEMBERS TO INTENSIFY WORK
In his closing remarks, the NDC Rivers State Governorship Candidate, H.E. Chief (Opuda) Dumo Lulu-Briggs, charged party members, candidates and supporters to intensify their efforts and remain committed to the work ahead.
He called for stronger grassroots mobilisation, greater coordination among party structures and increased commitment to the collective task of building a formidable political organisation across Rivers State.
He reminded members that the task ahead requires consistency, discipline and hard work, urging everyone to remain focused on the objective of the party as the 2027 general elections draw closer.
The Governorship Candidate concluded with the pointed remark:
«“And suddenly, the Rainbow Coalition has lost its colours.”»
The remark reflects the NDC’s political position that Rivers State is ready for a new direction and a renewed political order —one centred on the people and the restoration of purpose in governance.
The NDC remains committed to its mission of RESET RIVERS STATE and calls on its members, candidates and supporters across the 23 Local Government Areas to remain united, disciplined and fully engaged in the work ahead.
The second Caucus Meeting therefore ended with a clear commitment to strengthening party discipline, resolving internal matters through established structures, coordinating campaign activities and intensifying mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
