The leadership of a non-governmental organization known as a Civil Society Organization on Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) in Delta State has issued a passionate clarion call to its members and partners, urging them not to give up despite operational challenges.
Delta State Coordinator of ACOMIN, Pastor Gregory Sifo made the call in Asaba during the Quarterly Coordination meeting held with the Community Based Organizations and state partners.
He told the CBOs that the leadership acknowledged difficulties such as financial limitations, insecurity, difficult terrain, and inadequate resources that have made the work demanding.
Sifo reminded members of the purpose behind the organization, noting that they did not come together because the journey would be easy, but because the work is important and communities are counting on them.
The ACOMIN State Coordinator stressed that while resources may be limited, commitment must remain unlimited, calling for wisdom in insecure areas, creativity in financial difficulty, and mutual support when the task is overwhelming.
Sifo stated that great achievements are often built in difficult seasons, adding that every community reached and every life touched is evidence that its work matters.
He encouraged members not to be discouraged or lose passion, but to use resources wisely, seek partnerships, and continue improving service delivery.
Earlier, the ACOMIN State Program Officer, Sir Austin Uwede enjoined the CBOs to always ensure proper documentation of their various activities in communities and healthcare facilities.
Uwede, who enjoined them not to wait till they are done with the accumulation of all their reports in the quarter before printing and filing them, stressed the need for sustaining the improvement in their report writing.
Recalling that State Advocacy Team (SAT) conducted a total of 6 advocacy visits to relevant stakeholders within the quarter, Uwede reiterated ACOMIN’s commitment towards prevailing on government, especially Local Government Service Commission to recruit health workers for PHCs.
In their separate remarks, the Delta State Malaria Program Manager, Dr. Julie Ania, a representative of STO /Red Aid Nigeria, Dr. Henry Okafor, and the representative of Network of People Living With HIV/AIDS (NEPWHAN), Mr. Chidera Anagu as well as the Advocacy, Communication and Social Mobilization Officer , Ministry of Health, Mrs. Faith Okeleke lauded the CBOs for their efforts in delivering the objective of the organization.
They charged them to sustain their commitment, noting that their efforts had contributed in the improvement of healthcare service delivery.
