The groundswell of endorsements for Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, the NDC Rivers State gubernatorial candidate, continued with another major boost, when the Council of Chief Imams in Rivers State endorsed for the 2027 governorship election.
The endorsement was delivered by a high-powered delegation of the Council of Chief Imams in Rivers State who visited the NDC Rivers Guber candidate at the party’s Secretariat in Port Harcourt recently, and informed him that their decision followed a careful assessment of his track record, which confirmed by their leaders across the State, the country and beyond.
The Council of Chief Imams affirmed that Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs had demonstrated the capacity to institute the much-needed peace in Rivers State, which will usher in the prosperity anticipated by all and enable the Muslim community to thrive.
The delegation then declared that he was the only governorship candidate the revered highest spiritual body of Chief Imams in Rivers State has ever visited and endorsed, and will be the only one to be endorsed for the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, writing on his verified social media handles, posted a summary of the historic endorsement visit by the Council of Chief Imams in Rivers State which reads:
Yesterday, at the NDC State Secretariat, I received the historic endorsement of the Council of Chief Imams in Rivers State for the 2027 governorship election, as the NDC Governorship Candidate.
The high-powered delegation said their decision followed a careful assessment of my track record, confirmed by their leaders across the State, the country and beyond. They affirmed that I have demonstrated the capacity to institute the much-needed peace in Rivers State, which will usher in the prosperity we all anticipate and enable the Muslim community to thrive.
The Council stated that I am the only governorship candidate the revered highest spiritual body of Chief Imams in Rivers State has ever visited and endorsed, and will be the only one to be endorsed. They pledged to carry this resolve to every mosque and every Muslim home in the State, to build unity of purpose behind the RESET Agenda.
In my remarks, I recalled my formative years at Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and my National Youth Service year in Katsina State, where I was warmly received by my hosts and friends in the North. That journey shaped who I am today. I assured the Council that I will never forget that kindness, and that I will never take this endorsement for granted. It is a solemn trust, and I will not disappoint them when elected.
I thank the Council for this honour, and I remain committed to a Rivers State for people of all faiths and backgrounds. I charged them to keep spreading our three-point RESET message: Reset the Politics right, Reset Governance right, and Reset the Economics right, in a way that improves the lives of all Rivers residents.
