Turaki-Led PDP Heads To Supreme Court Over Party Convention

The National Working Committee (NWC) of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), under the leadership of Kabiru Tanimu Turaki, SAN, has officially filed an appeal at the Supreme Court of Nigeria against the the March 9, 2026 ruling of the Appeal Court Abuja Division.

According to the court papers, the PDP maintains that the Ibadan Convention was conducted in total compliance with the PDP Constitution (as amended) and the Electoral Act 2022. The mandate given to the current NWC was a collective decision of the party’s highest organ, the National Convention, and cannot be set aside by internal administrative maneuvers or selective judicial interpretations.

In addition to the Notice of Appeal, the Party’s legal team has filed an Application for an Order of Interlocutory Injunction and a Stay of Execution.

The objective is to restrain any persons, including the proposed “illegal caretaker committee,” from interfering with the daily operations of the party or taking any steps that would undermine the current leadership pending the final determination by the Apex Court.
