Women in Rivers State have declared their full support for Governor Siminalayi Fubara and President Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, formally aligning with the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The declaration was made during the 2025 Christmas Praise Party Palooza of the women’s group, Rivers Women Unite for Sim (RWUS), led by its convener, Amaopurubo Sotonye Toby Fulton.
Speaking at the meeting, Amaopurubo Fulton attributed the return of peace in the state to divine intervention, noting that the women turned to prayer during a period of political uncertainty. According to her, their faith has been rewarded with stability under the leadership of Governor Fubara.
“We were severely broken and didn’t know where to turn. We prayed in our homes, we prayed in our closets, we came out publicly to pray and God answered us,” she said. “We trust in the governance of His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara. Wherever he goes, we stand. In one accord, we declare our support for democracy, good governance and for our leader.”

Amaopurubo Fulton further urged women across the state to continue supporting the governor with dignity and sincerity, cautioning against political manipulation and the monetization of support. She emphasized that the group’s backing is rooted in conviction, not personal gain.
“From this day onward, as women of Rivers State, daughters, wives and children of this state, we stand with you,” she said, while also declaring the group’s unalloyed support for President Tinubu and the APC.
Also speaking at the event, renowned Niger Delta activist Annkio Briggs described Governor Fubara’s decision to align with the APC as timely and beneficial for the state. She said the move would further promote peace, stability and good governance in Rivers State.
“What the governor has done by moving to the APC is the best decision for the state at this time,” Briggs stated. “I support it fully. I don’t believe in party politics; I believe in the people. Parties don’t make the people, the people make the party.”
The gathering featured performances by artists, dance sessions, and carol songs, and ended with a renewed call for unity and sustained support for policies and leadership aimed at strengthening peace and development in Rivers State.
