Rt. Hon. Martin Chike-Amaewhule, Speaker, RSHA
The Rivers State House of Assembly has confirmed five of the commissioner nominees presented by Siminalayi Fubara, while four others were rejected during the screening exercise.
Confirmed nominees:
- Tonye Bellgam
- Temple Nwofor
- Peters Nwagor
- Lekue Kenneth
- Amairigha Edward Hart
Nominees not confirmed:
- Datonye Alasia
- Charity Deemua
- Tamuno Williams
- Otonye TKD Amachree.
The decisions followed a screening exercise conducted by the lawmakers, during which the nominees appeared before the Assembly to respond to questions on their qualifications and plans for the state.
A very reliable insider source however hinted at the possible but unconfirmed reasons why the four nominees were rejected thus:
Datonye Fred Alasia – He was said to have performed poorly during the screening exercise
OTDK Amachree – It was hinted that one of the reasons for his rejection may have been connected to the allegations thta there are over 11 petitions against him from his community on his involvement in community cases.
Charity Demua: She allegedly could not to produce her tax documents and this was possibly one of the reasons for her rejection.
Tamuno Williams – Allegations that Tamuno Williams was misleading the public on the activities of the Assembly in the past, which the inside source noted may not have gone down well with members during the screening exercise, could possibly have contributed to cost him his place in the soon to be re-constituted Rivers State Exco.
This is an unfolding story…
