Pastor Idowu Okeze has issued a strong warning against the resurgence of cult-related activities in Igbuzo (Ibusa), calling on youths to shun violence and criminality and embrace positive, lawful pursuits.
He condemned the actions of some unscrupulous individuals whom he said are playing with the destiny of young people by luring them into cultism and falsely assuring them of protection based on their position or status in society. Pastor Okeze stressed that such assurances are deceptive and ultimately lead to the destruction of innocent lives and the community at large. He disclosed that Ibusa elites and prominent stakeholders are now united and resolute in confronting those sponsoring cult activities, warning that perpetrators will no longer go scot-free, regardless of their standing in society.
Speaking during the final match of the Ibusa Annual Soccer Competition, Pastor Okeze expressed deep concern over the destructive impact of cultism on peace, security and the future of young people. He described cult activities as a serious threat to communal harmony and development, noting that many promising lives have been cut short or ruined due to involvement in such groups.
The cleric urged parents, guardians and community leaders to be more vigilant and proactive in guiding the younger generation, emphasizing that sound moral upbringing and collective responsibility are critical in curbing social vices. He also encouraged youths to channel their energy into education, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship, assuring them of continued support for empowerment initiatives that promote self-reliance.
Pastor Okeze further appealed to security agencies and relevant stakeholders to intensify collaboration with the community to sustain peace in Igbuzo, stressing that a safe and secure environment remains essential for meaningful development.
He reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots development and youth empowerment, emphasizing that Igbuzo must be known for progress, unity and peaceful coexistence, not violence or cultism.
