Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has described the death of former Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi as a painful loss to Delta State, particularly Delta North, saying the state has lost a fearless and principled leader.
The governor spoke on Monday during a condolence visit to the Nwaoboshi family, where he paid glowing tributes to the late lawmaker, fondly known as “The Oracle.” He said the news of Nwaoboshi’s death came as a rude shock, noting that they had spoken only days before his passing on developmental issues.
Governor Oborevwori described the late Senator as courageous, outspoken and unwavering in his convictions, recalling their long political association dating back to 2006 during the agitation for equity and power rotation in Delta State.
He said Senator Nwaoboshi lived a life of impact, raised many leaders and served the state with uncommon passion, adding that a big vacuum has been created by his death.

Dignitaries at the condolence visit included Hon. Frank Esenwah, Member representing Oshimili North Constituency at the Delta State House of Assembly; Princess Pat Ajudua; Hon. Patrick Uka; APC State Chairman, Chief Omeni Sobotie; Hon. Austin Nnabuife, Hon. Innocent Esewezie; Hon. Ben Iwezu, Chief Peter Okocha, Chief Ambros Elue, Hon. Henry Mordi, Hon. Leo Nkeaka and other top government and party officials.
The governor extended his condolences to the widow, Dr. Mrs. Judith Nwaoboshi, the Nwaoboshi family, the political family, the people of Delta North and the Anioma nation.
Responding on behalf of the family, Elder Emmanuel Nwaoboshi thanked the governor and the dignitaries for the visit, describing it as a great source of comfort, and prayed for the peaceful repose of the late Senator’s soul.
