Governor Sheriff Oborevwori is steadily connecting communities and unlocking shared prosperity across Delta State through purposeful infrastructure development that directly addresses the needs of the people. Central to this vision is the Delta State Government’s unwavering commitment to inclusive growth, especially in rural and semi-urban areas.
A clear example is the ongoing construction of the Unoghovo Community Road, linking the Benin Expressway to Ovade in Oghara, Ethiope West Local Government Area. Approved by the State Executive Council in July 2025, the project underscores the administration’s determination to deepen rural connectivity and stimulate socio-economic development at the grassroots.
The project, being executed by Mediac Resources Limited and supervised by the Delta State Ministry of Works (Rural Roads), is designed to provide a durable and reliable access route that will open up Unoghovo and neighbouring communities. It will ease the movement of residents, farmers, traders, and small-scale entrepreneurs, thereby enhancing productivity and economic opportunities.
Work currently ongoing includes extensive site clearing and the construction of double-side drainage systems, critical components aimed at ensuring the road’s durability, effective water control, and all-season usability. Upon completion, the road is expected to reduce travel time and transportation costs while improving access to markets, schools, healthcare facilities, and other essential social services.
Beyond physical infrastructure, the Unoghovo Community Road represents a strategic investment in people, livelihoods, and long-term community growth. By improving access and mobility, the project will strengthen agricultural value chains, encourage local commerce, and attract further economic activities.
The initiative aligns squarely with Governor Oborevwori’s MORE Agenda, which prioritises Meaningful development, Opportunities for all, Realistic reforms, and Enhanced peace and security. Through projects like this, the Delta State Government continues to demonstrate that sustainable prosperity is best achieved by deliberately connecting communities and bringing development closer to the people.
