Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja

Alabo Charles Mac-Pepple Jaja, Head of the Mac-Pepple War Canoe House of Opobo, has been selected as the new Amanyanabo of Opobo, following the transition of the late monarch, King Dandeson Jaja Jeki V.

The Amanyanabo-elect, 65, is the younger brother of the immediate past Amanyanabo and a son of a former occupant of the throne, King Douglas Mac-Pepple Jaja, continuing a lineage strongly rooted in the traditional leadership of the Opobo Kingdom.

A graduate of Political Science and Administration from the University of Port Harcourt, Jaja also attended Government Technical College, Abak, and the Rivers State School of Basic Studies. He holds a Diploma from the Sondore Institute of Management and a Postgraduate Certificate in Law from Rivers State University.

Installed as head of the Mac-Pepple Jaja War Canoe House on January 10, 2010, he is widely regarded as calm, measured and approachable by those close to him.

Official details and the timeline for his coronation and formal installation ceremonies are expected to be announced by the Opobo Traditional Council in due course.
