A NIGHT OF HONOUR, TRIBUTES, AS DELTA BIDS FAREWELL TO SENATOR PETER ONYELUKACHUKWU NWAOBOSHI – By Ike Philip Abiagom

It was a night to remember in Delta State as dignitaries, political associates, family members, and admirers gathered at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, for a solemn and memorable Night of Tribute in honour of the late Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi.

The atmosphere was reflective yet celebratory — a fitting farewell to a man widely regarded as a political colossus and fondly called “The Oracle.” The event drew like minds from across Delta North and beyond, united by gratitude for a life marked by courage, conviction, and uncommon service.

Senator Nwaoboshi, who represented Delta North Senatorial District in the 8th and 9th Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, lived a life defined by remarkable impact. His public service journey saw him serve as Special Adviser, Honourable Commissioner, Chairman of a Federal Parastatal, former State Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and ultimately Senator of the Federal Republic.

As Chairman of the Senate Committee on Niger Delta Affairs, he was instrumental in attracting numerous developmental projects to the nooks and crannies of Anioma Nation. His tenure was widely acknowledged for its strong emphasis on youth empowerment, infrastructural advancement, and strategic representation of Delta North’s interests at the national level.

Speaker after speaker described him as a bridge builder, a fearless advocate for his people, a philanthropist with deep compassion, and a political leader whose influence shaped many careers. His bold voice on the floor of the Senate and his unwavering commitment to the development of Anioma Nation earned him admiration across party lines.

Delivering a glowing tribute at the event, Hon. Frank Esenwah, Member representing Oshimili North Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly and Chairman of the Burial Central Committee, described the late Senator as “a man of honour, dignity, integrity, and loyalty — an achiever whose legacies will continue to inspire generations.”

The night also provided an opportunity for heartfelt testimonials, solemn reflections, and prayers for the repose of his soul. Musical renditions added emotional depth to the gathering, as many were moved to tears recounting personal encounters with the departed statesman.

Special appreciation was extended to His Excellency, Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, Executive Governor of Delta State, and former Governor Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, for their support and presence. Commendation was also given to the Committee of Friends of Late Senator Nwaoboshi, led by Joan Onyemaechi and Ndudi Elumelu, for organizing the befitting tribute.

Recognition was equally accorded to the Burial Central Committee led by Hon. Barr. Frank Esenwa; the Burial Media and Publicity Committee led by Chief Patrick Ukah; Barr. Mrs. Ifeanyi Nkenchor, daughter of the deceased; and Sir Adiefe Nwaoboshi, who represented the Nwaoboshi family at the event.

Beyond politics, Senator Nwaoboshi was celebrated as a successful business mogul and a generous benefactor whose benevolence touched countless lives. His life story — from grassroots mobilizer to national legislator — remains a testament to resilience, strategic leadership, and dedication to public good.

As the curtains fell on the Night of Tribute, one message resonated clearly across the Dome: though the political giant has taken his final bow, his legacy of service, courage, and unwavering advocacy for Anioma Nation will endure.

May the giant soul of Distinguished Senator Peter Onyelukachukwu Nwaoboshi rest in perfect peace. Amen.
