Hon. Ochei, in a rallying statement posted on his verified social media handles, enjoined the people of Delta North to embrace him, not merely as a candidate, but as a fellow Anioma Son who understands the moment before them, adding that he accepted to join the NDC and run for the Delta North Senatorial seat, after careful consideration and in response to the calls from the people.

The full statement reads:
STATEMENT ON THE COMMENCEMENT OF POLITICAL CAMPAIGNS FOR THE 2027 PRESIDENTIAL AND NATIONAL ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS.
My dear people of Delta North,
As campaigns for the 2027 general elections officially begin, I speak to you not merely as a candidate, but as a fellow Anioma Son who understands the moment before us.
Delta North stands at a crossroads. For too long, our politics has been shaped by familiar patterns, political calculations and the preservation of existing arrangements. I believe we can do better. That is why, after careful consideration and in response to the calls from our people, I accepted the responsibility to contest for the Senate under the banner of the Nigeria Demnocratic Congress, NDC. The NDC formally cleared my candidacy for Delta North in July 2026.
But this election is bigger than one Senate seat.
It is about building a new political direction for Delta North and supporting all NDC candidates across our Senatorial District—for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly while working with our NDC candidate for Governor of Delta State Deacon Chris Iyovwaye.
At the national level, we have Peter Obi as our presidential candidate. I believe his appeal goes beyond political rhetoric. It is about prudence, order, simplicity, accountability and the responsible management of public resources. His record as Governor of Anambra State demonstrated that experience is not merely about eloquence; it is about what a person does with responsibility. His administration also received recognition for prudence and public-sector performance.
The coming together of the different political forces that now constitute the NDC, including the structures associated with the OK Movement, presents us with an opportunity to build something broader than individual ambitions: a political platform capable of winning and governing with purpose.
So, to the people of Delta North, I ask for your partnership.
Let us move from politics of dependency to politics of capacity.
From survival to purposeful representation.
From what has always been to what can be.
This is our moment.
This is our mission.
This is the New Direction.
VOTE NDC!
Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor O. Ochei, Esq., FNSE
2027 NDC Candidate, Delta North Senatorial District.
