Ahead of the 2027 general elections, members of the Ikpokpo Political Family from across Delta South Senatorial District on Wednesday, August 5, met at the Uro-Irri country home of Sir Itiako Malik Ikpokpo, where they resolved to campaign, support and vote for all candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Addressing the meeting, the Principal and Convener, Sir Itiako Malik Ikpokpo, explained that the gathering, the second in the series, was convened to enable members interact freely, express their concerns, and take a common position ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He acknowledged that the circumstances surrounding his withdrawal from the APC Delta South Senatorial primary election were unpleasant but emphasized that, as a committed party man, he had put the experience behind him and was fully dedicated to working tirelessly for the overwhelming victory of the APC in the forthcoming elections.
According to Sir Ikpokpo, a former Director General of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, ( ALGON) and Managing Director, Dunamis Icon Limited, the APC remains the most viable political party in Nigeria, and parades the country’s most formidable presidential candidate in President Bola Tinubu and a performing Governor and Governorship candidate in Delta State, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Reflecting on his experience as Chairman of Isoko South Local Government between 2014 and 2021, Ikpokpo said:

“As Chairman of Council from 2014 to 2021, I know what I went through. For six years, Isoko South Local Government recorded monthly allocation deficits averaging between ₦24 million and ₦40 million. Today, states and local governments are better funded because we now have a President who clearly understands the dynamics of both micro and macroeconomics.
“For over a decade, I have consistently advocated for local government policing as the solution to our worsening security challenges. More than sixty years after independence, we now have a President who has summoned the courage to champion state policing. That is a bold and commendable step in the right direction. I can go on and on.”
“Of course, the President is not perfect. There are still challenges to overcome and much more work to be done. However, I am confident that the nation is on the surest path to recovery under his leadership. Unfortunately we had a government that slept for eight years.”
Speaking on Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, he stated:
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated uncommon ingenuity in delivering enduring infrastructure and an unwavering commitment to improving the state’s governance model. Importantly, His Excellency has also shown remarkable humility and a genuine willingness to engage stakeholders and foster constructive dialogue aimed at strengthening party cohesion and enhancing governance outcomes.
While acknowledging the grievances expressed by members during the meeting, Ikpokpo appealed for unity, understanding, and renewed commitment to the APC, stressing that only a united political family could effectively contribute to the party’s success in 2027.
At the end of the meeting, members unanimously resolved to mobilize grassroots support across the wards and units in Delta South for President Bola Tinubu, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, and all APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The meeting had in attendance, coordinators from the eight local government areas of Delta South Senatorial District, alongside members of the Ikpokpo Political Family from Isoko South and Isoko North Local Government Areas.
