Governor Seyi Makinde
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde has declared his intention to run for the Presidency under the grand Alliance of People’s Democratic Party PDP and Allied People’s Movement APM in the 2027 elections.
According to him, the PDP and APM resolved to work together to provide a credible alternative capable of addressing growing apathy within the nation’s political system and ensuring better governance for Nigerians.
He also unveiled the Reset Nigeria Movement and a dedicated campaign website to drive nationwide mobilisation.
Governor Makinde who made the declaration at the Unity Mega Rally held on Thursday at the Mapo Hall in Ibadan, the state capital, tagged the Grand alliance of PDP and APM as “Reset Nigeria Movement” which, according to him, is poised to take back the country from the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC

Speaking at the rally where he made the official declaration, Makinde said, “Nigeria can not continue with politics as usual. This is the time to reset our nation, rebuild public trust, strengthen institutions and create a system that works for all Nigerians.”
He said that the Reset Nigeria project is focused on economic growth, job creation, education, healthcare, infrastructure development, power sector reforms, security and institutional strengthening, adding that Nigeria needs competent and accountable leadership capable of restoring public trust.
It is anticipated that Makinde’s loyal political structure in Oyo is expected to contest future elections under the APM banner instead of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), following the newly signed alliance agreement between both parties.
The governor also officially announced Bimbo Adekanmbi, a former Oyo State Finance Commissioner, as his preferred candidate for the 2027 governorship election in the state.

With 2027 political permutations already gathering momentum, many observers believe this development could reshape opposition politics and trigger fresh alliances across the country.
