The Association of Anioma Professionals (AAP) is collaborating with Admiralty University, Ibusa to embark on the training of youths Delta North in digital knowledge to harness the opportunities in information and communication technology.
The arrangement involves the institution of special diploma programmes on digital marketing, web design, software engineering, solar system installation and cyber security as well as other specialised programmes on ICT. The AAP will in turn secure the buy-in of prominent leaders in Anioma, including local government chairmen and political leaders to sponsor young men and women they will nominate to the programme.
Welcoming the collaboration while receiving a delegation of the group who paid him a courtesy visit, the Vice Chancellor of Admiralty University, Professor Christopher Bankole Ndubuisi Ogbogbo, said certificates will be awarded for the short-term programmes which should commence in 2026.
He commended the AAP which is made up of professionals of Anioma extraction with visible means of livelihood for its passion in equipping the younger generation with the capacity to be entrepreneurs and job creators.
He commended the association for creating the platform for professionals from the area to work assiduously towards combating unemployment in Anioma and equipping youths with requisite skills to take advantage of the enormous opportunities in information and communications technology.
Ogbogbo pledged that under his watch, Admiralty University will evolve projects and programmes that will guide Anioma youths in identifying the opportunities in the area and create a pool of talents that will Anioma the go-to place for investors to source technical manpower.
Addressing the vice chancellor earlier, the President General of the Association of Anioma Professionals, Mr. Peter Nkenchor, a retired permanent secretary, said youth unemployment has led to increase in youthβs involvement in criminal activities.
He explained the need for all hands to be on deck in finding solutions to the problems facing Anioma youths, adding that government alone could not solve the problem.
According to him, “we believe that government even with its enormous powers and resources still needs all the help and it can muster financially and otherwise from its environment in discharging its duties. He said the association will reach out to the chairmen of the nine local government areas in Anioma nation as well as well placed individuals to buy into the project of giving the youth the capacity to become entrepreneurs.
“As soon as your university begins the programme we will appeal to council chairmen to sponsor young men and women in their area to benefit in the training. We believe that equipping them with modern technical skills is the best way to chart a new course for the youths”, Nkenchor said.
