

In a ceremony at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, Professor Chukwuma Soludo and Dr. Onyekachukwu Ibezim were officially sworn in for their second term as Governor and Deputy Governor of Anambra State.
The event, which drew thousands of supporters, Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, former President Olusegun Obasanjo, former President Goodluck Jonathan, former Commonwealth Secretary-General Chief Emeka Anyaoku, former governors, senators, members of the clergy, captains of industry, traditional rulers, and high-ranking officials from across the federation, marked the continuation of the “Solution” administration’s agenda.
Following a decisive electoral victory in November 2025, Governor Soludo’s second inauguration underscores a renewed mandate to transform Anambra into a liveable and prosperous megacity.
Vice President Kashim Shettima represented President Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the inauguration and swearing-in ceremony of Charles Soludo and his deputy, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, as they officially commenced their second term in office. The ceremony, which took place in Awka, was attended by dignitaries from across the country and marked another significant milestone in the democratic journey of Anambra State.
In his remarks, Vice President Kashim Shettima conveyed the warm congratulations and goodwill of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the government and people of Anambra State. He commended Governor Soludo for his remarkable contributions to nation-building, noting in particular his consistent efforts toward fostering unity and strengthening Nigeria’s political, economic, and social institutions through thoughtful and practical commentaries on national issues.
Vice President Kashim Shettima further described Professor Charles Soludo as a man of ideas, integrity, and honour. He noted that the Governor assumed office at a challenging period in Nigeria’s political landscape, when many public office holders were prioritizing personal relevance over integrity and promoting division. Despite these challenges, Governor Soludo has remained resolute in his commitment to national growth, good governance, and sustainable development.
He also reaffirmed the unwavering support of the Federal Government under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the continued progress of Anambra State. Vice President Kashim Shettima expressed confidence that Governor Soludo’s second term would consolidate on the gains of his first tenure and further advance peace, stability, and prosperity for the people of the state and Nigeria at large.


Governor Soludo, in his inaugural speech, thanked the people of Anambra for their trust and pledged unwavering commitment to his administration’s vision, stating that over the next four years, his government will shift to a higher gear and institutionalize reforms centered on the next generation, with priority on security and sustainable development.


Highlights of the ceremony included the administration of the Oath of Office and Oath of Allegiance on the Governor and Deputy Governor by the Chief Judge of Anambra State, Justice Onochie Anyachebelu, thereby cementing their tenure until 2030.
The event also featured a parade and inspection of the parade by Governor Soludo.
