The Pastor and founder, Victorious Heirs Christian Church, Umuagu Asaba, Pastor Ernest Otunkor has charged christians not to take God’s benefits for granted, stressing that “we are alive today is as a result of His faithfulness”.
Giving the admonition during this year’s Annual thanksgiving celebration of God’s faithfulness with the Theme; ‘ Forget Not His Benefits’,
Pastor Otunkor said believers usually take God’s benefits for granted and admonished them to thank God at all times.
In a brief sermon by the guest speaker, Pastor David Ugochukwu who dwelt on the same theme: “And Forget Not His Benefits”, took his text from the book of Psalm 103:2.
He pointed out that believers are concerned about what they want from God, but always
forget to give thanks when their prayers are answered.
The guest speaker further called on believers not to be ignorant of God’s faithfulness in our daily living saying that as children of God, “we should always show appreciation through thanksgiving which is a sign of gratitude to our father in heaven”, the cleric emphasised.
He noted that Christians usually forget easily saying, that such attitude is not pleasing before God. He charged them to refrain from such attitude as he outlined some of the benefits to include intentional appreciation, God’s constant forgiveness and His healing miracles at all time.
The highpoint of this year’s annual celebration of God’s faithfulness is Award of Excellence to some of deserving members of the church who have distinguished themselves in their commitments towards God’s benefits in various forms.
The thanksgiving was done separately by children, men, women and all invited guests which climaxed with the thanksgiving by Ewulu Christian Believers Association of Nigeria (ECBAN) in their unique way of praising God in their traditional way.
The general Overseer Pastor Ernest Otunkor thanked all invited guests and members of his church for their active participation in this year’s annual thanksgiving.
