Hon. Anyafulu, Oshimili South Representative In DTHA, Gives Account Of Stewardship; Launches Empowerment Initiatives

Hon. Ifechukwukwu Bridget Anyafulu, Esq., giving account of her stewardship as the representative of Oshimili South State Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly during the constituency townhall meeting held on Wednesday, February 4th, 2026, at the pavilion of the Delta State Arts and Culture Council along St. Bridgi’s Road in the Delta State capital.

The presentation covered the performance and activities of the Asaba-born legislator in 2025, including the developmental interventions undertaken on her own initiative and her core legislative functions. Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., was sworn in along with other members of the State 8th Assembly on June 13, 2023.

She has since assuming office presented the account of her performance to the people of Oshimili South annually.

In the comprehensive report presented before a mammoth audience that include government officials, leaders and contingents of the All Progressives Congress (APC) from all the wards of Oshimili South Local Government Area, traditional rulers, women, youths, and the press, Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., spoke of her achievements in the areas of health, education, women and youth empowerment, agriculture, peace and security, humanitarian assistance to vulnerable households, the aged and the needy, as well as her performance in the core legislative functions of law-making, passage of motions, screening of nominees for appointments into various top public offices, etc.

Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., who stressed her belief in the time-honoured principles of accountability, transparency, openness, and inclusivity, noted that the performance report was inspired by the necessity to uphold these timeless democratic principles as well as the need to keep the record for posterity.

Her interventions, according to the former Commissioner for Humanitarian and Community Support Services, were dictated by her campaign promises to the people of Oshimili South and validated by the needs assessments carried out in the course of the campaign.

Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., expressed her gratitude to the people of Oshimili South for the support and encouragement they have given to her so far in the performance of her duties and reaffirmed her commitment to continue to prioritise education, health, women and youth empowerment, infrastructure, peace, and economic development of Oshimili South Local Government Area.

The legislator appealed for the continued support and prayers of the people of Oshimili South, noting that together they can make Oshimili South more prosperous, stable, and exemplary.

As part of the event, two empowerment initiatives, namely the Sustainable Health Insurance for Transformative Inclusion (SHIFT-I) and the Sustainable Micro-Economic Empowerment Scheme (SMEES), were flagged off, while wheelchairs, crutches, and walking sticks were donated to persons living with disabilities based on requests made by individual beneficiaries.

The donation and the empowerment schemes (SHIFT-I and SMEES) were sponsored by the Asaba-born legislator.

Under the Sustainable Health Insurance for Transformative Inclusion, 1,200 vulnerable persons in Oshimili South Constituency received registration cards for their enrolment into the Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme. The enrolment entitles the beneficiaries to access medical treatment free of charge at an accredited hospital to be communicated to them, nearest to their residential homes.

In respect of the micro-economic support scheme, hundreds of small-scale female traders and micro-business owners received financial assistance ( some got ₦50,000, while others received ₦100,000) to support and strengthen their business enterprises.

The Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, led a powerful delegation of the State Legislature to the event.

The delegation included the Deputy Speaker, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo; the House Leader, Hon. Engr. Emeka Nwaobi; the member representing Ndokwa West State Constituency, Hon. Charles Emetulu; and his counterpart from Ndokwa East, Hon. Prince Emeka Osamuta; the member representing Ughelli South Constituency, Hon. Festus Utuama; and the member representing Burutu II Constituency, Hon. Pereotu Oloye.

The delegation also included the member representing Okpe State Constituency, Hon. James Augoye; the member representing Ughelli North I Constituency, Hon. Mathew Omonade; and his counterpart from Ughelli North II Constituency, Hon. Spencer Ohwofa; the member representing Ika North East State Constituency, Hon. Marilyn Okowa-Daramola; and the Clerk of the House, Mr. Otto Aghoghophia.

Among several other dignitaries present at the occasion were the Commissioner for Humanitarian Affairs and Community Support Services, Ms. Orode Uduaghan, who was represented at the occasion by an Aide; the Chairman, Oshimili South Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Rev. Gang Dongo; the Special Adviser on Peace and Conflict Resolution to His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, Chief Edwin Uzor; the General Manager, Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta; and the Paramount Traditional Ruler of Oko Kingdom, the Akor of Oko, Eze Engr. Osita I

Others included the Ubulikankwu Ahaba, High Chief Prof. Leroy Edozien; Oshimili South APC stalwart, Ogbueshi Dada Okonji; and the APC Oshimili South Women Leader. The Asagba of Asaba, HRM Obi Prof. Epiphany Chigbogu Azinge, was represented at the occasion by Ogbueshi Agbalenze.

A major highlight of the event was the conferment of an award on Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., as Ambassador of the State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme by His Excellency, Governor Sheriff Oborevwori. The award was presented to Hon. Anyafulu, Esq., on behalf of the Governor by the General Manager, Delta State Contributory Health Insurance Scheme, Olorogun Dr. Isaac Akpoveta.

The Oshimili South Constituency town hall meeting started about 2 p.m. with an opening prayer from Rev. Fr. Andrew, the parish priest of St. Michael Catholic Church, Oko. Other activities featured at the event included goodwill messages from critical stakeholders, musical entertainment, and light refreshments.
