The Delta State Chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) joined colleagues across Nigeria today, Saturday, October 3, 2026, for the WPRF Abuja 2026 Nationwide Road Walk, taking the World Public Relations Forum flag through Asaba to promote responsible communication, civic responsibility and active citizenship ahead of the global gathering in Abuja.
The event was successfully held today, Saturday, October 3, 2026, despite the challenges of the times. We commenced our walk from Asaba Shopping Mall (Shoprite), proceeded through Nnebisi Road, and made a brief stopover at Konwea Shopping Plaza, where we demonstrated the vitality of our limbs while advocating responsible communication, civic responsibility and active citizenship among Deltans.
Our message is simple but profound: communication remains a powerful instrument for building trust, promoting responsible citizenship and advancing sustainable development.
These and other critical issues will receive further attention at WPRF Abuja 2026, as communication professionals from Nigeria and across the world converge to deliberate on the strategic role of responsible communication in shaping a better society.
From Konwea Shopping Plaza, we proceeded to the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba, our termination point, where we engaged in aerobics exercises and recorded video clips expressing our commitment and readiness to participate in WPRF Abuja 2026.

However, in the build-up to today’s road walk, the Delta State Chapter also took its advocacy and publicity campaign to the airwaves. We were guests of the Delta State Broadcasting Service (DBS), Warri, and Kruzz FM 92.9, Asaba, where we sensitised the listening public on the importance of Public Relations and the growing relevance of effective communication to successful living, responsible citizenship, organisational reputation and societal development.
The Delta State Traffic Management Agency (DESTMA) was on hand to assist with traffic management and ensure a smooth and orderly movement along the route.
Our mobile DJ also added colour and vitality to the exercise with quality music, including the WPRF theme song and the selected Davido track, as advised.
Meanwhile, our special appreciation goes to the President and Chairman of the Governing Council of NIPR, Dr. Ike Neliaku, and his dynamic team for the vision, leadership and coordination that have given impetus to this important national mobilisation ahead of WPRF Abuja 2026.
We also appreciate every Professional Colleague, stakeholder, partner and participant who contributed in one way or another to the success of the Delta State road walk.
The flag has been raised in Delta. The message has been amplified. The commitment is renewed.

God willing, we shall all converge in Abuja for WPRF 2026, where we will further strengthen our collective efforts towards responsible communication, sustainable development and the advancement of Nigeria.
Together, we build a nation to be proud of.
