Onyeweuwa Charges Ewulu People On Unity And Cooperation At New Yam Festival

The people of Ewulu Kingdom have been charged to uphold peace, unity and collective efforts towards the development of the community.

The traditional ruler of Ewulu Kingdom, Agbogidi Godwin Sunday Onyeweuwa I, gave the charge during the 2026 New Yam Festival at his palace in Ewulu.

The event was held in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State.

Onyeweuwa described the New Yam Festival as an opportunity to thank God for a successful harvest and celebrate the fruits of the people’s labour.

He said the occasion had brought the community together in an atmosphere of joy, thanksgiving and cultural celebration.

The monarch urged the people to learn from past mistakes and avoid actions capable of hindering the progress of the kingdom.

He also called on government and well-to-do individuals to support and empower the people, stressing that community development required collective effort.

The monarch described Ewulu as an agrarian community blessed with fertile land and rivers.

He appealed to the state government to complete the road linking the community with the expressway.

According to him, completing the road would boost agricultural production, facilitate the movement of farm produce and promote economic development.

Onyeweuwa I expressed appreciation for the peaceful atmosphere in Ewulu and prayed for continued unity, peace and prosperity.

He also pledged his support for the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

In their goodwill messages, the traditional ruler of Aba-Unor, His Royal Majesty Innocent Mmaduabunachukwu, congratulated the people of Ewulu.

He commended Onyeweuwa I for promoting peace, unity and the preservation of the kingdom’s cultural heritage.

The traditional ruler of Ukwu-Oba, His Royal Majesty Cletus Nkweakam, also congratulated the people on the occasion.

Queen Juliet Onyeweuwa and Chairman of the Ewulu New Yam Festival Committee, Mr. Innocent Okocha, urged the youth to preserve the kingdom’s cultural heritage.

They also appealed for greater government attention to infrastructure and other development needs of the community.

The ceremony featured traditional dances and musical performances, including the Oshanmo and Olu dances.

Among the dignitaries present were the traditional ruler of Ubulu-Unor Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Agbogidi Obi Dr. Henry Kikachukwu.

Also present was the Obi of Ashama Kingdom, His Royal Majesty Obi Solomon Ezechinyelugo II, alongside other dignitaries.
