Chief Dumo Lulu-Briggs, Rivers State Governorship Candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress NDC, for the 2027 general elections, has congratulated the newly crowned Amanyanabo Of Opobo Kingdom His Majesty, King Charles Douglas Macpepplle Jaja, Jeki VI, following his successful coronation ceremony on Saturday, September 26, 2026.
Chief Lulu-Briggs’ felicitation was graciously expressed with befitting reverence and deferential humility, in a congratulatory message posted on his verified social media handles, to celebrate the historic royal occasion thus:

Yesterday, history was made in Opobo Kingdom as the great people of Opobo crowned their King, a wise King ordained by God.
Though I and the King of Abonnema were unavoidably absent, the great importance attached to such a divine moment could not deter us. As such, a powerful delegation of the Abonnema Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs was sent, and in their company were my Deputy Governorship candidate, His Excellency Mike Nwielaghi, and executive members of my party, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), to attend the historic event.
Having been well briefed, I knew, as they say, a Lion cannot give birth to anything other than a Lion. As such, I never had any doubt that the revered King, His Majesty, King Charles Douglas Macpepple Jaja, Jeki VI, Amayanabo of Opobo Kingdom, will continue as a great and wise King, well deserving of the great people of Opobo, as he assumes office. For his coronation sparked unspeakable joy in Opobo Kingdom yesterday, a clear signal of righteousness in authority.
It was with this same belief that I told him, when I visited the palace on a condolence visit, that the continuation of the throne would be a great one, knowing that he is an embodiment of wisdom, peaceful in nature, wired in compassion, unity personified and purposeful in his ways.
So, on behalf of myself and my family, the revered King of Abonnema, the Abonnema Council of Chiefs, and the Rivers State chapter of the NDC, we extend our warmest congratulations to His Majesty the King. We pray that he will reign in divine wisdom and manifest greater peace, unity, love, unprecedented accomplishments, justice and compassion as he assumes the sacred duty that divinity has chosen him for.
