What a remarkable experience at the 6th World Nomad Games in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan!
Special thanks to the Government and good people of Kyrgyzstan for their warmth and hospitality, and for putting together such a great championship.
Your hospitality, organisation and commitment to promoting cultural exchange through sports were truly commendable.
I also extend my special appreciation to a quintessential sports administrator, Mr. Samrat Singh, and the International Zurkhaneh Sports Federation (IZSF) for the invitation to participate in the Koshti Pahlavani Championship. It was indeed a beautiful, memorable and highly successful championship.
The organisation, hospitality and spirit of camaraderie displayed throughout the event were truly remarkable.
Indeed, sports remain one of the greatest instruments of cultural diplomacy and international cooperation, bringing nations together for peaceful coexistence, mutual understanding and sustainable development.
The experiences shared, friendships forged and memories created will live on. Beyond the excitement of the Games, however, the experience became a profound reflection on where Nigeria ought to be among comity of nations.
It was gratifying and humbling to see people in faraway Kyrgyzstan; a non-English-speaking country – sing, dance and connect with the music of Nigerian music icons such as Burna Boy and Davido, among others.
Even the popular Nigerian expression, “Nigeria No Dey Carry Last,” resonated with people there – a phrase made popular by my Deltan folks through the well-known “Warri No Dey Carry Last.”
For others, it was the memories of our football legends, particularly Jay-Jay Okocha and the Super Eagles, that readily came to mind.
The warmth, respect and genuine affection expressed by people of different nationalities towards Nigeria and Africa were simply overwhelming. It reminded me that beyond our borders, there is enormous goodwill, admiration and expectation for Nigeria.
Nigeria is blessed with abundant natural resources, a vibrant and talented population, a rich cultural heritage and an extraordinary capacity to influence the world.Yet, the Nigeria we dream of will not emerge by chance. It will come through visionary leadership, responsible governance, justice, accountability and the prudent management of our God-given resources for the common good.
Our leaders must, therefore, retrace their steps and renew their commitment to the principles of righteousness, integrity, equity and service to humanity.
Leadership is not merely about occupying positions of authority; it is about leaving behind a legacy that future generations can be proud of – a legacy of positive impact that time can never erase.
The world is watching Nigeria. The world believes in Nigeria. The world loves Nigeria. It is time for Nigeria to believe in herself.
Let us build a nation where our enormous resources translate into prosperity for our people; where institutions work; where merit is rewarded; where justice prevails; where young Nigerians can dream without borders; and where Nigeria’s voice commands respect – not merely because of her size or resources, but because of the quality of her leadership and the dignity of her people.
From across many nations, I am reminded once again: Nigeria has everything it takes to be a great nation.
What we need is the collective will, courageous leadership and determination to make that greatness a reality.
Nigeria Must Rise Again!
